Walking out the other night
I saw Goliath ‘neath the light.
He stood arms resting on a fence
Waiting for those without defence.
As to the ogre I drew near
Inside a could feel David’s fear.
I prayed that I might find his faith
and slay the giant face to face.
But this is now, not Bible times;
God’s help remote and maybe blind?
I nearly run but keep on going;
doubts my faith nigh overflowing.
Despite fear, trust urges on:
He will not fail whom He’s loved so long.
My life in God’s hands, see I could
The Tree of Life where fear once stood.
